AMICON 2016: Push for indegenisation

We at Calcutta Fabricators recently attended the AMICON conference 2016( May3-4 2016), powered by CII and had the wonderful opportunity to meet the Honourable Defence Minister Mr.Manohar Parrikar. Several dignitaries from the Indian army were present and several industry personnels. The main theme of the conference in 2016 was the push for indegenisation, towards developing more import substitutes. Many issues faced by the SMEs were taken up and several points were discussed. The MGO of Army, Lt General Ravi Thodke urged the different departments to speed up processes of placing supply orders and hand hold SME’s into building growth in the defence sector.

Several Industry giants such as Baba Kalyani, Chairman and MD of Bharat Forge Ltd, urged the importance to developing import substitutes in India and pushing the “Make in India” campaign.  Mr.Surendranath Tripathy, AS & DC in the Ministry of MSME urged the necessity of giving financial relief to MSME’s and bridge the gap between demand and supply.
