The ACH design is high in demand as it is extremely compatible with night vision equipment and other accessories, attached with seven pad cushioning system to protect the wearer against harsh conditions. We have collaborated recently with the world’s leading Twaron manufacturer for increased strength and reliability.
Three point or Four point chin strap system is available fitted with accessories as per demand.

For the past few months Calcutta Fabricators has successfully passed several rounds of tests at the highly equipped Forensic Sciences Lab, Gujarat which is renowned for its International testing facilities in India. Our latest batch of helmet samples have stopped 9 MM SMG Kirkee Ammunition factory bullet on all counts from 5 metre distance and also 20 metre with maximum back face deformation under 13 MM.
It is known that it is extremely difficult to achieve this feat (deformation under 13 MM) and NIJ level III certification.
We hope to achieve greater results in future and add more feathers to our hat!
We at Calcutta Fabricators recently attended the AMICON conference 2016( May3-4 2016), powered by CII and had the wonderful opportunity to meet the Honourable Defence Minister Mr.Manohar Parrikar. Several dignitaries from the Indian army were present and several industry personnels. The main theme of the conference in 2016 was the push for indegenisation, towards developing more import substitutes. Many issues faced by the SMEs were taken up and several points were discussed. The MGO of Army, Lt General Ravi Thodke urged the different departments to speed up processes of placing supply orders and hand hold SME’s into building growth in the defence sector.
Several Industry giants such as Baba Kalyani, Chairman and MD of Bharat Forge Ltd, urged the importance to developing import substitutes in India and pushing the “Make in India” campaign. Mr.Surendranath Tripathy, AS & DC in the Ministry of MSME urged the necessity of giving financial relief to MSME’s and bridge the gap between demand and supply.
The ministry is gearing up to purchase bulk order of defence equipment in a bid to amp up the country’s defence industry.
India has the the second largest standing Army in the world. There is a huge demand for defence equipment with 6 Operational commands and 14 Corps. A lot of hue and cry has been made about the state of the Indian defence ministry in recent years. A recent article published in a leading newspaper has brought to light the extensive cause of delay in the purchasing of bullet resistant helmets and bullet proof jackets.
India has a high demand, due to its large contingent and also a massive budget of Rs 2,46,727 crore ($40 billion). However, due to the long process of approving tenders and procurement, things slowed down a bit. Things seem to be looking up as the ministry is gearing up to purchase and fulfil the demand gap in the next few years.
Our firm is registered with the DGS&D for over 10 years, and SQAE for over 30 years and we at Calcutta Fabricators are constantly working towards developing and improving our products. With the new government speeding up the process of the specifications which comply with the high International technical standards, we are enthusiastic of the future and coming year 2016.
In these perilous times when threat looms large, we as a nation with the second largest population on earth needs to buckle up and protect our soldiers who sacrifice their lives to keep us safe.
As India gears up for “Make in India” project in the Defence Industry, exciting times are ahead for private Defence manufacturing units.
A great article by Dr SN Misra, former Director of DRDO and Joint Secretary of Aerospace, MOD highlights the importance of a synergy between manufacturing capability and demands of the defence industry in India.
Several projects are underway to increase the general share of manufacturing from 15 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 25 per cent. This will in turn create employment opportunity of nearly ten million on an annual basis. Another statistic lists the the defence services account for nearly Rs 2.29 lakh crore of the Central Government Budget which is nearly 2.5 per cent of the GDP and 13 per cent of the Central Government expenditure. It is clear that being a huge industry liberalization of the policies and encouraging private manufacturers will massively boost the morale of the defence industry.
A major change in Defence Procurement policy as recent as 2013 has been a boon for several manufacturing units who can now avail of Transfer of Technology (TOT). So to put it simply, technology transfers will definitely help defence companies to learn from their global counterparts, update their resources and focus on indegenisation. This emphasis on indegenisation is a major boost for Indian companies along with the current liberal FDI policy (49 percent) which also has caused big global defence companies to sit up and take notice of India.
We at Calcutta Fabricators are very enthusiastic about the interest global defence companies are taking in India. Being a company who has focused on utilizing indigenous raw-materials, and a skilled labour force we hope to envision a bright future for India in defence sector in line with Global giants such as the USA, France.
